Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
