Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
