Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
