Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
