Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
