Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
