Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
