Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
