Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
