Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
