Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
