Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
