Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
