Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
