Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
