Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
