Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
