Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
