Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
