Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
