Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
