Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
