Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
