Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
