Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 and the even and the odd, 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 And with Pharaoh of the tent pegs 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 No! But you do not honor the orphan 17 and you urge not the feeding of the needy, 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 O the contented soul! 27 Return towards your Lord – you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 Enter among My servants 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
