Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley? 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, 19 And you harbour intense love for wealth. 20 Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes – and the angels row by row, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 So enter among My servants, 29 Enter My Paradise." 30
