Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn 1 and the ten nights! 2 And by oath of the even and the odd. 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 Like whom no one else was born in the cities. 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
True are the words of God the Almighty.
