Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And the ten nights, 2 And the Even and the Odd, 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? 5 Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, 6 Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars, 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him. 23 He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 O you tranquil soul, 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
