Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Dawn 1 And by ten nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 of the columned (city) of Iram, 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And when hell is brought that day on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 Return unto thine Lord well pleased and well-pleasing. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 into My Paradise. 30
