Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by ten nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 The night as it advances, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 Like whom no one else was born in the cities. 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 and brought about great corruption therein: 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And devour the inheritance devouring greedily, 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He will say, “Alas – if only I had sent some good deeds ahead, during my lifetime!” 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 So enter among My (righteous) servants 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
