Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 And the ten nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 the people of the huge columned city of Eram 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 Enter thou among My righteous bondmen! 29 Enter then My garden." 30
