Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And ten nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Why is there an oath in this, for the intelligent? 5 Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: 6 of the columned (city) of Iram, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Who committed inordinacy in the cities, 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 and you do not urge one another to feed the needy, 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 No! But when the earth quakes and is pounded, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 So on that day, no one punishes like He does! 25 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 into My Paradise. 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
