The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
