Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
