Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 in which you are now living 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
