Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 to an orphaned relative 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
