Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
