Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
