Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 to an orphaned relative 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
