Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
