The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
