Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
