The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And you are free (from sin, to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah). 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
