The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
