The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
