The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
