The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
