The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
