The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
