The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
