The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
